Well here is my first blog. I figure if nothing else, my writing will help sustain any and all writing skills I have until my next college semester. After all, if I am to be an English teacher I should be able to write, right?
Yesterday was mine and Stephen's first Christmas being all married and such. It was a quiet and lovely Christmas. Although it did rain most of the day, I got to try my hand for the first time at cooking a turkey. I didn't screw it up too badly though. I think my biggest faux pas was forgetting the giblet bag. It's not that I didn't look-I did! I manned up and stuck my hand right up that turkey's hooha. All I found was the neck! We did not find the baggy until the turkey had been cooked up all nice and toasty. Maybe it added moisture, who knows. I will admit, however, that my Christmas was way different from any before. At my parents there are always at least 10 people there if not many more. There were only the two of us, but it was so fantastic! We were in our own home with our puppy dog Kaiser and our two kitties. And it was a great practice run for any future turkey dinners where people might actually need to consume the food I cook.
Speaking of practice runs, I am trying to train for a marathon. Yup 26.2 miles of fun! You know your out of shape when you start to jog and you can feel your butt jiggle. It's really not that fun if you can literally feel the fat your trying to lose bounce with you off the pavement. It's not that I've gained that much weight since getting married I just haven't run as much which leads to fat bouncing and other fun experiences. With the recent snow it's put a little bit of a hitch in my training but gosh darnit I'm gonna jump right back and get into it. I only ran 3 miles today but tomorrow I will do 5. Yay.
